Significant advancements in biologics, personalized medicine, and gene therapy have created a growing need for the industry to rapidly and safely bring new therapeutics to market. Scaling these therapeutics from the lab to commercialization is essential for evaluating their safety and medicinal profile. A critical aspect of this process is conducting filling trials with repeatable, quantifiable process steps from the bench top to full scale filling.

While clinical trial manufacturing follows the same strict regulatory requirements as commercial production, it operates on a much smaller scale. In clinical trial drug product filling, there is considerable flexibility in fill modalities, with end-users often relying on machines with fewer in-process controls. This increases the need for precise and reliable filling solutions. Post clinical trials when the drug product is slated for full scale manufacturing lessons-learned new to be carried over and translated into a robust and safe filling regiment.

To address this, SaniSure has developed a filling toolbox that enables end-users to design smalland large-scale filling processes with quantified dat. This presentation will explore the relationship between selecting appropriate tubing properties, needle inner diameter for various viscosity drug product solutions, particulate generation during filling, and the effects of shear stress on drug products. By equipping end-users with this toolbox, all stages of filling can be completed more efficiently and safely, accelerating the path to market for life-changing therapeutics.
