Setting the Weld Standard: Validating Cleargreen®Pure Tubing for Closed-System Bioprocessing
Comprehensive TR-1092 study demonstrates ClearGreen®Pure outperforms leading PVC competitors in weld integrity, burst pressure, and particulate cleanliness for commercial cell therapy manufacturing.

As cell and gene therapy manufactures scale toward commercial production, the integrity of every fluid pathway component becomes critical to process success and patient safety. Traditional PVC tubing formulations increasingly fail to meet the demanding requirements of closed-system bioprocessing, where weld reliability, particulate cleanliness, and gamma stability are non-negotiable.
A comprehensive comparative study (TR-1092) evaluated the weldability performance of ClearGreen®Pure tubing against industry-standard Tygon ND 100-65 and Raumedic MED8036 across four critical parameters: burst pressure resistance, tensile strength, particulate release (USP <788>), and visual weld quality. All materials underwent gamma sterilization (25-40 kGy) to simulate real-world manufacturing conditions.
Key findings demonstrate ClearGreen®Pure’s superior performance:
- 18.1 psi burst pressure — 15% higher than leading competitors
- 88.0 N tensile strength in self-welds with excellent hybrid compatibility
- Full USP <788> compliance across all weld combinations
- Minimal weld flash supporting smooth fluid transfer
Critically, hybrid welds between ClearGreen®Pure and legacy PVC materials consistently matched or exceeded the performance of like-to-like welds, enabling seamless integration into existing validated systems without full qualification overhauls.
For CDMOs and process engineers managing the transition to sustainable, DEHP-free materials while maintaining operational excellence, this study validates ClearGreen®Pure as a drop-in replacement that enhances rather than compromises manufacturing reliability. The combination of proven weld integrity, animal-free formulation, and 45 kGy gamma stability positions ClearGreen®Pure as the preferred tubing solution for next-generation biologics manufacturing.
Applications: Single-use assemblies, media transfer sets, blood processing systems, cell manipulation workflows, and aseptic fill/finish operations requiring the highest standards of sterility and process control.
